01/22/2011:We're on a highway

although we've been neglecting the blogspot for a good while now, it's probably a better means of communicating with friends than spamming our personal facebook pages. We decided to put the album up on bandcamp. The reason? Until we either a) have enough money or b) find someone who might put it out we are sort of in a bind. While obviously a digital release is not ideal, we would like people to hear the record in whatever format they can. There will be a physical release at some point in the not-so-distant future, we swear. Quality transcends physical formats: we just want people to hear it. We're sticking to it.

this will be a place where we can share any reviews or press the band might get. If you have not checked it out, we have recently teamed up with our good friends, the brother duo of Alexei and Dominic Golob. You can view the video for 'Highway' by clicking on the link below. This was filmed over 4-5 nights in Pelham. They were easily some of the coldest nights of the winter; just picture a bunch of dudes in haggard clothes hauling a generator around a dilapidated farm property: gnarly shit. Having good friends with the ambition, creativity and raw talent to engage with a project like the 'highway' video is something I try not to take for granted. Working with alexei, dominic, tommy burch, john pruyn and mike catherwood was both fun and inspiring. It's just a bunch of old friends coming together and creating something that they can all be proud of. That's the ideal, right? We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.

update 2/22/10

it's too easy to hibernate during this stretch of the year. i'm pretty sure that I've talked to my dog more than most of my friends over the past couple of months. when april hits, something clicks and the resocialization begins. until then i'm content with my guitar, my dog, and other simple pleasures.

you can, however catch us in the near future here:

thursday february 25 - mansion house (st.kitts) - playing with kurt vile, rocket reducers and cat on acid.
sunday february 28th - merchant ale house(st.kitts) - ELK cd release party w/the dirty nil.

you should show up to one or the other, why not both?
we'll be recording something come march. until then, we have a few tapes still available. if you're looking for inspiration, just remember that "pizza is life...the rest is just toppings." timeless, really.

concerning the next 30 days...

January 16th: We will be playing our friend Dylan's show at 73 st.paul, along with I REFUSE, black faxes, niagara hardcore legends Glass Dog, and potentially others. This is going to be a blast, so come out.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks we will be 'releasing' (posting) a video for stay low. our good friend alexei golob is working on it, and the footage looks really cool. you can check out the track on http://www.myspace.com/northernprimitive.

As well, Ross Miller just put together 'volume 2' of the tape series; this contains a couple of songs from Elk on side one, and a couple of songs from Northern Primitive on side two. Volume 1 was the same idea, only with Hunters and Anglers and Cat on Acid. You can spend a few bucks and pick it up at a number of St.Catharines or Welland shows.

over.
